Thriving Kids – First Nations Sector Strengthening

The aim of the grant opportunity is to deliver the Thriving Kids First Nations Sector Strengthening activity, as part of the Commonwealth’s commitment to provide dedicated First Nations national workforce activities from December 2026 until 30 June 2031. Funding will be provided for a 5-year period. This grant opportunity: focuses on uplifting the capability of National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (NACCHO) member organisations and jurisdictional affiliates, acknowledges that Thriving Kids will be delivered and facilitated by and within various sectors, and will require collaboration across education, early childhood, health and community services. The purpose of the grant is to: Bring a First Nations voice and perspective to design, implementation and roll-out of Thriving Kids services, through established Thriving Kids governance arrangements, including informing the development and implementation of the Thriving Kids Workforce and Training Capability Framework Enable the community-controlled sector to build workforce capability skills to identify/screen and connect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children with developmental delay and autism, and their families, carers and kin with Thriving Kids supports that match their developmental support needs. Overall, the grant activity will engage NACCHO to deliver the sector strengthening activity in a two-steam approach, including ongoing collaboration between the Commonwealth, NACCHO, cross sector peaks and states and territories, to ensure that national activities align with and inform local implementation and priorities.
