Everything official happens here. Your organisation is registered here and receives its PIC; the proposal is written in the portal's own forms and submitted through them; the grant agreement is signed here; reports and payment requests are filed here. There is no alternative channel, and an email to a project officer is not a submission.

Access is built on roles rather than accounts. The LEAR is appointed by your organisation's legal representative and controls who may do what: who can submit on the organisation's behalf, who can sign, who can only read. Getting that appointment through takes days to weeks because it needs supporting documents and a human validation step, and it is the single most common reason a first-time applicant cannot submit on the day of the deadline.

The submission system accepts partial uploads and lets you replace them until the cut-off. Submitting early and re-submitting an improved version later is the standard defensive tactic: the last accepted version counts, and a proposal already in the system cannot be lost to a browser crash at 16:50.

The portal is a system of record, not a search engine. Its filters are coarse, its full-text search is weak, and (this is the part that costs people money) its status field goes stale. Calls whose deadline has passed continue to display as open for weeks. Bemzu therefore publishes its own status derived from the cut-off dates rather than repeating what the portal says.

One more habit worth forming: the portal's topic pages carry a documents tab with the call fiche, the standard application forms and the topic-specific annexes. The annexes are where topic-specific obligations hide, and they are not reproduced in the summary that most people read.
