What this call funds

Expected Outcome:

Proposals are expected to contribute to all the following expected outcomes:

  • Increased resilience and sovereignty of critical European research data and knowledge repositories and scientific services used in the life sciences[1], including in particular biomedical and biomolecular related disciplines.
  • Further integration of trusted, FAIR data[2] and research infrastructures in the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC)[3] Federation.
  • Increased European leadership and contribution to international collaboration frameworks supporting data infrastructures.

Scope:

Europe is home to some of the world’s key research data repositories, scientific services and facilities that are indispensable for the life sciences.

Despite their crucial role in advancing the life sciences in Europe, such infrastructures are often vulnerable to risks that can critically impair their sustainable operation and serving of the community, such as overdependence on precarious funding streams, overreliance on a too limited number of experts or organisations for the operation and further development of technical components or features that could otherwise benefit from more distributed solutions and appropriate safety nets against ‘single points of failure’.

Where these conditions come from

Two kinds of row. Most are the sentence we read the condition from, quoted out of the call itself. Some say plainly that they are not a quotation but the programme's own rule for this type of action, the EU portal publishes a table of contents where the conditions should be, so for a Research and Innovation Action the rate comes from the rulebook rather than from the fiche.

ConditionQuoted from the call, or the rule behind it
Consortium sizeNot quoted from this call — Research and Innovation Actions under the Horizon Europe rules are at least three independent legal entities from three different Member States or Associated Countries, at least one established in a Member State.
