The program will support the creation of new economic opportunities including new energy supplies, access to new revenue streams, local contracting and procurement as well as employment and training opportunities for First Nations communities located near the sites of proposed large-scale renewable hydrogen production projects. The First Nations Renewable Hydrogen Engagement Fund Round 2 will run from 2026-27 to 2027-28. The intended outcomes of the grant opportunity are: increased capacity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and organisations to engage with the renewable hydrogen industry the perspectives, culture and traditions of First Nations have informed the development of Australia’s first large-scale renewable hydrogen projects.
