What this call funds

This grant opportunity seeks to provide people in the Newcastle, Lower Hunter, Lake Macquarie and Central Coast region with access to more bulk billed General Practitioner (GP) services by establishing new bulk billing clinics in the region. Accessible and affordable primary health care in the community means people can access care earlier and more conveniently. This funding seeks to support a long-term increase in access to bulk billed primary care services for the targeted region. For this grant opportunity, $25.3 million is available over three years from 2026-27 to 2028-29 for the Hunter New England and Central Coast (HNECC) PHN to conduct a process (such as an expression-of-interest or competitive open tender) to determine and provide funding to one or more appropriate “private provider(s)” of six new bulk billing general practices. HNECC PHN will also be responsible for determining the suitability of the locations of the new practices to ensure they are accessible to those most in need of the services. As part of the commissioning process, private provider(s) will be required to demonstrate how the grant would be used to establish the bulk billing practices, and how the practice(s) will continue to viably operate under a fully bulk billing model, after funding has ceased. To view the grant opportunity documents, please select the red "Grant Opportunity Documents" button on the left-hand side.
