What this call funds

The aim of the grant activity is to design, deliver and evaluate national engagement activities with the Autistic and autism community from January 2027 until June 2028, as part of the Thriving Kids initiative. Funding will be provided for a two-year period, with the potential to extend up to June 2031, subject to performance, program requirements and decisions of government. The grant aims to deliver meaningful outcomes for Autistic children, their families, carers and kin by: • Raising awareness and understanding of best practice for child development and available supports outside the NDIS, including Thriving Kids • Building skills and confidence of families, carers and kin of Autistic children • Collect and share feedback with governments, on how supports outside the NDIS, particularly Thriving Kids services are operating in practice and any areas for improvement. Design of this component will be agreed in conjunction with the Commonwealth and state and territory governments. Engagement activities are to be locally relevant, tailored to meet the needs of families, carers and kin with intersectional experiences, including, but not limited to, First Nations people, Culturally and Linguistically Diverse people, rural and remote communities and parents with disabilities. Overall, the grant seeks to support targeted engagement with the Autistic and autism community, so governments can design and implement supports that reflect lived experience, build confidence, and help children and families feel understood, included and supported.
