What this call funds

The Australian Government is inviting organisations via a restricted process to apply to deliver a grant under Accelerating Electric Vehicle Charging Program. For this Grant, $33.2 million GST exclusive is available over the 2027–28 and 2028–29 financial years. Grant activities must be completed by 30 April 2029. The Accelerating Electric Vehicle Charging Program seeks to leverage the complementary strengths of Distribution Network Service Providers (DNSPs) and Charge Point Operators (CPOs) to rapidly rollout electric vehicle (EV) chargers and support the creation of a dynamic market that can meet the future needs of Australian EV drivers. The deployment of EV chargers and electrification of light vehicles is a key part of the Australian Government’s plan to rapidly decarbonise the transport sector and meet emissions reduction targets. The objectives of this program are to: support emissions reduction in the transport sector to help meet net zero targets by building confidence in Australia’s public EV charging network and supporting Australians with their choice to purchase an EV accelerate the deployment of EV chargers by leveraging the complementary strengths of DNSPs and CPOs to reduce the time and cost to connect preserve competition while filling gaps in the public EV charging network, targeting the deployment of: kerbside EV chargers that offer affordable charging for Australians without access to home-charging; and EV chargers in regional blackspots that support journeys and regional communities.
