GrantConnect is the Australian Government's mandatory publication point for grants. Commonwealth entities must publish their grant opportunities there, and must publish the awards they make within a set period after the agreement takes effect. It is a legal obligation, not a service, which is why Australian coverage is unusually complete.
Everything carries an identifier. A grant opportunity has a GO ID, an awarded grant has a GA ID, and a forecast opportunity is published before it opens. Quote the GO ID in any correspondence. It is unambiguous in a way a programme name never is, and departments run programmes with near-identical names for years.
The awards data is the underused half. Because every awarded grant is published with recipient, amount, purpose and dates, you can see exactly what a programme funded last round, at what sizes and to whom, before deciding whether to apply. Very few funding systems anywhere make this so easy.
Registering for notifications on GrantConnect is worth doing even if you also use an aggregator: the forecast publications give weeks of warning, and Australian windows are frequently short.
The completeness has a limit worth knowing. GrantConnect covers COMMONWEALTH grants. State and territory programmes (which fund a great deal of business activity in Australia) have their own portals and their own rules, and they are not on it.
